1. Scope
This policy describes how the Android app Contour Quest, package name
com.faheel.contourquest, handles information. In this policy,
“the app” means Contour Quest and “we” means its developer.
2. Camera and photos
Contour Quest uses the camera so you can photograph an object and compare its outline with country shapes. Camera images are processed locally by a bundled segmentation model.
- The app does not upload captured photos to us or to a remote processing service.
- The app does not request access to your photo or media library.
- A captured photo is stored temporarily in the app's private cache while a round is active.
- If you leave or restart without saving, the temporary session photo is deleted by the app.
3. Saved finds
If you press Save at the end of a Game or Explore round, the app stores that result in its private storage on your device. A saved find can contain:
- the captured photo;
- the selected object's outline;
- matched country names and outlines;
- similarity scores and outline alignment information; and
- the date of the saved result and whether it was a Game or Explore round.
You remain in control. Saved finds stay inside Contour Quest's app-private storage and are not included in Android backups.
4. Network, tracking, and third parties
Contour Quest does not request Android's internet permission. It has no developer-operated server and does not send us photos, saved finds, identifiers, usage events, or location data.
The app does not contain advertising, analytics, social sign-in, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs. Google Play and your device's operating system may independently process installation or diagnostic information under their own terms; that platform-level processing is not performed by Contour Quest.
5. Android permissions
The app requests one runtime permission:
- Camera: used only to preview the camera and capture an object photo when you choose.
You can revoke camera access at any time in Android Settings. The camera features will not work without it.
6. Retention and deletion
Unsaved session files are temporary and are cleared when you leave the round or when the app next starts. Saved finds remain on your device until you delete them in Contour Quest, clear the app's storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the app.
Because this data is not uploaded to us, we do not have a server-side copy to access, recover, or delete.
7. Children's privacy
Contour Quest does not knowingly collect or transmit personal information from children or other users. Parents and guardians can remove locally saved finds using the app's delete control, Android's clear-storage option, or by uninstalling the app.
8. Security
Photos and saved finds use Android's app-private storage, which is isolated from other apps under Android's security model. Keeping your device updated and protected with a screen lock also helps protect locally stored content.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if Contour Quest's features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when that happens. Any future feature that changes how data is handled will be reflected here and, where required, explained in the app.
